The Heart
Fotografin Mika und Musikproduzent Tesfay sind füreinander die erste große Liebe. Beide sind sie talentiert, sie blond, er mit schwarzen Dreads - so sieht ein perfektes Paar im modernen Schweden aus. Nach dem ersten Kennenlernen, mit Partys, Sex und gegenseitigem Umwerben, entscheiden sie sich fürs Zusammenleben. Hinter der perfekten Fassade aber beginnen die Dinge schiefzulaufen. Wie offenbart man dem geliebten Gegenüber seine inneren Konflikte und seine Scham? Hjärtat erzählt die Entwicklung einer Beziehung in mehreren Kapiteln und ist das Porträt einer Generation junger Erwachsener, die mit Intimität, Sexualität und hohen Erwartungen zu kämpfen haben.
A young photographer moves to Stockholm and falls in love with a musician in Fanni Metelius' personal debut film about gender, love and sexuality. What happens when the heart wants one thing, the gut another and the mouth suddenly speaks as a third party? The focus of the film is Fanni Metelius (who directed, played the lead, wrote and edited the film) and around her hovers the comic Ahmed Berhan, who plays a sad slacker musician while a delightful Suzanne Reuter has the role of the skeptical mother. The Heart is a feminist relationship drama that addresses the power games of love and the structures of desire with a voice all its own. (Jonas Holmberg)

With award-winning shorts and a celebrated performance in Ruben Östlund's feature "Force Majeure" under her belt, Swedish director, screenwriter and actress Fanni Metelius is being hailed as a generational auteur. "The Heart" is Metelius' debut feature, bringing her raw, novel gaze on society and her BFA (film directing/producing), to full fruition.
