Programmsektion: European Panorama Documentary | Dokumentarfilm | Österreichpremiere Sprachen: Schwedisch / Englisch mit englischen Untertiteln „Let’s smash patriarchy!“, ruft die schwedische Rapperin Silvana Imam ihrem Publikum entgegen. Ihre Raps sind roh und autobiographisch angelegt, kreisen nicht selten um ihre sexuelle Identität. Als Kind nach Schweden gekommen – syrischer Vater, litauische Mutter – thematisiert sie ihren Background als Immigrantin genauso wie den gesellschaftspolitischen Zustand Schwedens. Das dokumentarische Portrait beginnt im Jahr 2014, dem Jahres ihres musikalischen Durchbruchs, begleitet ihren raschen Aufstieg als lesbische, feministische und antirassistische „Punk-Rapperin“, die kein Blatt vor den Mund nimmt, aber auch den Verlauf ihrer Beziehung zur schwedischen Pop-Künstlerin Beatrice Eli. SILVANA ist eine politische Musik-Doku, die nicht nur eingefleischte Fans anspricht. Ein starker Film über eine mutige Protagonistin, die mit ihrer kraftvollen Musik kämpferisch für eine bessere Welt eintritt. Der Film wird im Rahmen der Festivaleröffnung am 25. April in Anwesenheit der Protagonistin Silvana Imam präsentiert, die am Eröffnungsabend ein Live-Konzert, 23:00 Uhr OK Deck, bestreiten wird (Eintritt frei).

Her raps are raw and autobiographically influenced, often revolving around sexual identity. Having come to Sweden as a child – Syrian father, Lithuanian mother – she addresses her background as an immigrant as well as the socio-political state of Sweden. The documentary portrait begins in 2014, the year of her musical breakthrough, accompanies her rapid rise as a lesbian, feminist and anti-racist “punk rapper” with no inhibitions about speaking her mind, but also the course of her relationship with the Swedish pop artist Beatrice Eli. SILVANA is a political music documentary that appeals not only to dedicated fans. A strong film about a courageous protagonist, who fights for a better world with her powerful music. The film is presented during the festival opening on 25 April with the protagonist Silvana Imam present, who will perform a live concert on the opening evening, starting at 11 pm in the OK Deck (admission free).
