Hugo
Zdzisław Misiak, den alle als Dzidek kennen, ist Jahrmarktkönig im Ruhestand. Nach dem Tod seiner Tochter lebt sein 7-jähriger Enkel Hugo bei ihm, in einer der letzten noch stehenden Baracken. Der verfallende Jahrmarkt ist Kulisse für ein immer enger werdendes Band zwischen dem Buben und seinem Großvater, und beiden gelingt es allmählich, den schweren Verlust zu verarbeiten. Doch die Harmonie darf nicht andauern: Bald werden die beiden vom System entdeckt und es ist vorbei mit dem Frieden in Dzidek-Land. Hugo ist ein Film über Liebe und über den Mut, nach eigenen Regeln zu leben.
Zdzisław Misiak, known as Dzidek, the retired king of amusement parks, lives with his 7-year-old grandson Hugo Huang in one of the left over barracks on the site of a once prospering business. The growing bond and relationship between them is valued above all, and the memory of Hugo's mother who passed away to soon, leaving a scar in their hearts. Director's Biography
Wojciech Klimala
Polish director, screenwriter, editor and producer born in 1984. He earned his degree in directing from the Czech film school Filmová Akademie Miroslava Ondříčka v Písku in 2011, then graduated from the DOK PRO programme at the Wajda Film School. For the past two years he has been associated with Warner Music Polska, where he works on music and promotional videos. “Hugo” (2017) is his first documentary feature film.
