Oleg ist mit Leidenschaft Sanitäter. Seine Frau Katya arbeitet ebenfalls im Spital, in der Notaufnahme. Sie liebt Oleg, aber hat es satt, dass seine Patienten ihm wichtiger sind, und verlangt eines Abends die Scheidung. Doch die persönliche Krise trifft mit einer Krise am Arbeitsplatz zusammen: Olegs neuer Abteilungsleiter ist ein kaltherziger Manager, der strenge Regeln durchsetzen soll. Oleg sind Regeln allerdings egal, er hat Leben zu retten. Zwischen alkoholgeschwängerten Nachtschichten, Patientenschicksalen und einem sich wandelnden Gesundheitssystem versuchen Katya und Oleg herauszufinden, ob ihre Beziehung noch zu retten ist.
Oleg is heading for his thirties. He works as a paramedic and, after a hard shift, he likes to take a few swigs. His wife Katya is also a doctor, working in the hospital's emergency department. But her patience with Oleg is running thin, so she announces one day that she wants a divorce ... One of the most intriguing filmmakers on the Russian scene today, Boris Khlebnikov returns to the big screen with a meticulous piece of direction. Along with precise performances from the cast, the film examines a relationship experiencing an arrhythmia similar to that affecting the hearts of the patients Oleg treats in his job as a paramedic. Boris Khlebnikov
Born in Moscow in 1972, Boris gave his debut with the internationally successful “Koktebel” (2003). His next film, “Free Floating” (2006), earned him Best Director at Kinotavr in Sochi. “Sumashedshaya pomoshch” (2009) premiered in Berlin’s Forum. In 2010 he was part of the Crossing Europe Tribute to Koktebel film company. In 2013 he returned to Berlinale with “Dolgaya schastlivaya zhizn”, this time in competition.
