Ursprünglich kommt Raša vom Balkan, doch nun lebt sie mit ihrem gesundheitlich angeschlagenen Vater in einer kleinen Stadt in Schweden. Sie ist stolz auf ihre schwedische Staatsbürgerschaft und arbeitet mit anderen Emigranten in einer lokalen Lebensmittelfabrik. Die Arbeit ist nichts als quälende Routine, allerdings hat sie im Laufe der Zeit eine freundschaftliche Beziehung zu ihren Arbeitskolleginnen aufgebaut. Als sie aufgrund wirtschaftlicher Entscheidungen des Fabrikleiters ihren Job verliert, steht ihre Existenz plötzlich am Abgrund.

EAT SLEEP DIE follows Raša, a twenty-one-year-old employee of the local salad-packing factory. She came from Balkan to Sweden and lives with her father in a small village in the Swedish province of Skåne. Raša has to earn the biggest part of the housekeeping allowance because her father has a number of health problems that keep him from working. While her job is utterly routine, the young woman has developed some kind of friendship with her fellow workers. Actually she is not unhappy, but when the owner of the factory announces that layoffs are necessary in this shrinking economy, Raša's livelihood is endangered. With no high school diploma and no job she is forced to re-evaluate her life and make some tough decisions about her future.
